Besides the read scan, answer these questions for me. ![]() Did you do a read scan of the one that didn't to see if there are problems with its condition? You may need another copy, if doing a backup is a necessity. ![]() Since that was corrected, I've not run across a program that won't access a source on the HDD. The old XCopy had a flaw where it couldn't, though the app was supposed to. Very few can't and all the major ones I've worked with do. The method I suggested (AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter) has your source cleaned up and ready to work with any encoder or transcoder app that can open files from the hard drive. You can use "whatever" as long as you're happy with the output quality of your video. AnyDVD works with all the software I've tried it with. That also allows you to check your source files for errors if something goes wrong.Īs for AnyDVD with CloneDVD 2, it works good and is simple to operate so easy for the beginner. I suggest the AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter for tasks and then open the source files from the hard drive. It only takes about an hour longer to do the job with a true encoder. Since some of my software has to have files from the HD, I tend to rip them all there. This was developed due to new copyright protection on factory DVDs that caused recording software to read the files as non-compliant. Ideally when a file is ripped with the AnyDVD ripper, it ends up being DVD compliant. Note: Though I'm not familiar with how good it works, AnyDVD now includes a ripper which incorporates FixVTS. If not send the disc to me and I'll see what the problem is. Save your original which is the backup and burn the new Video_TS folder. You end up with a new Video_TS folder and a backup of the original. Just uncheck the boxes in the FixVTS window, drag the first VOB file to FixVTS and select Full Disc to process the files. Use a DVD player app to check the files to make sure they're complete. If the scan is clear, use FixVTS (freeware) to process the files you got using DVDFabDecrypter (if they were a full version of the movie). If you don't have Nero or a utility that does the read scan, you can download the free DVDInfoPro,, and use the scan utility in it. Nero has CD-DVD Speed which has that particular test. I would proceed by first doing a read scan of the source DVD, just to make sure it isn't flawed. Does using AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter encounter the same error as with DVD Decrypter alone? Slysoft was and is doing a better job of staying updated. I was using AnyDVD with it before it lost support. It's good for old movies before it lost support, but the date eludes me. You shouldn't have been relying on DVD Decrypter, it's obsolete as far as decryption by itself. I'd use that one since the decryption pointed to a VOB file.Ĭlick to expand.Volnerable? Are you sure about that word? FixVTS is an easy tool that corrects problems. I've used it as a utility for that purpose in the past. When you opened the files in DVD Shrink, did Shrink do the quick analysis? DVD Shrink has the ability to correct file structure to some degree. The quick analysis in Shrink is a good test for file compliance. If you got a complete rip with DVDFabDecrypter, then the files should have been able to be processed by DVD Shrink, though it isn't necessary to shrink the files to fit the target media. As I mentioned, DVD Decrypter is obsolete, though still a useful tool when used properly.Īt this juncture, It appears you're having problems with compliance or there's a flaw in the DVD itself. When using DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD, CSS cracking should be off, SPTI on, and Checking Structure off. Second, AnyDVD is one of the best decryption tools, though not infallible. You can't depend on DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter as your main decryption software. ![]() Shrink lost it's support first, but the author always pointed out to use DVD Decrypter if a problem arose with encryption. First of all remember this in a big way: DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are no longer supported and the portion of the software that breaks decryption and copyright protections are getting more obsolete each day.
